The rudder started as three pieces of marine ply laminated together to make a single 40mm piece.

I asked a friend Martin, a professional boat builder, to profile the rudder to create tapering at the leading and following edges.

I decided to cut away a few mm of the lowest part of both gudgeons and fit nylon washers to allow free movement of the rudder. Thanks to Stephen and Dave for their help!
